Well, I've successfully been living in Chicago for over a month now. Things are pretty good, actually. I don't miss home as much as I thought, but I think a part of that is because I don't allow myself to really. I still miss all my friends, but I'm trying to be positive and look ahead instead of focusing on the things that I miss. The rest of Chicagoness is better told in pictures, I do believe.
Well, I made it safely to Chicago my apartment is definetly in a semi-seedy area, although, there is a starbucks within walking distance and so is the El Stop .. and a blockbuster. It's small, but bigger then I thought plus the girl I took over the sublet for left me a big TV and a ton of crap as well I am adjusting and I miss my dad but I'm doing pretty ok.
Christine and Oliver (her boyfriend) took Aaron and I to Ikea on Saturday and I bought SO MUCH STUFF and it was a blast. Plus, that was a lifesave cause i had no clue how I was going to get out to Schaumburg since renting a car is a huge hassle
New Year's Eve was definetly "one for the books" I normally can't stand new years but Christine invited us to her friend's party and I had a ridiculous amount of fun...a RIDICULOUS amount of fun and Christine/Oliver/Emily are such great & fun people, so it really started off 2007 correctly
so long California we've had some good times I'm off to make Chicago my new home don't worry I'll be back to visit thanks for all the good weather and the great friends you have provided me with No matter how far away I escape to I will always be a Californian keep it real
I just found an old CD with a bunch of photos from my trip to Australia when I was 17. I have to share them because it was an amazing trip
I went with a group called Earthwatch which takes people in these environmental trips where go to different locales & aide in doing research and rehabilitation It was such a great experience and if you can, I highly recommend going on one at some point in your life.
The only reason I ever rented this was because Corey Feldman's character mentions it in The Burbs. Not to mention that mutha fuckin Burgess Meredith is in it. It's pretty ridiculous but it has some choice actors in it (*cough*Christopher Walken*cough*) and is a pretty decent horror film.
When Brian K Vaughan goes huge and blows up all over the place...(he is almost there, just needs the Y:The Last Man movie to do well) I just want everyone to know...I was there before the fangirls despite the constant jokes about it (cause comeon...it is pretty weird and hilarious) I was and am a HUGE fan of his work...before I knew what a short and adorable man he is but on the other hand...
MOVIES I AM DYING TO SEE The Fountain - Chills.every.time.I.watch.this The Science of Sleep - We all know the Gondry/Kaufman team is perfection, but I have really high hopes for this movie. I think it looks crazy and marvelous. The Prestige - Batman, Wolverine and Bowie. Nothing else needs to be said The Oh in Ohio - I keep reading amazing things about this and Paul Rudd can do no wrong in my book...I'm in The Pursuit of Happyness - I can't help but love Will Smith, I have no idea why. I'm fairly certain this movie will make me bawl hysterically but sometimes its nice to watch a movie like that. America: Freedom of Fascism - Blake turned me onto this. I'm a sucker for documentaries
I really want Brick & the new-ish Sufjan CD for my birthday
I don't know why I started driving around tonight, listening to Daft Punk & Beastie Boys REALLY FUCKING LOUD and trying to act all badass like my car is fast or something...turning the bass up and pretening I have some crazy system in my car I ended making myself laugh hysterically...which always feel great
ps. thanks for giving me the one liners guys! They are great and if you ever get more ideas feel free to post them!
I'm sitting around watching Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas thinking about how up & down life can get sometimes like how maybe in 2 years I might look back on 2006 and remember what an amazing time I had, rather the stress I endured the same way I look at the last few years of my life
I looked through my scrapbook book last night which inspired me to do this
JESUS FUCK -- Comic-Con is going be the greatest weekend of all time MOTHER FUCKING SAM RAIMI is going to be there...and so is FRANK MILLER...on the same fucking day! It's amazing! ++
Stan "The Man" Lee, Samuel L Jackson, Robert Rodriguez, Ray Bradbury, John Wagner (writer of The History of Violence), Bruce Campbell, all the dudes from Adult Swim, Max Allan Collins (writer of Road to Perdition), and a writing panel/classrom setting workshop with J. Michael Straczynski !!!
Why do I stress out so much over every little thing?
